Job Description
DecisionPoint seeks a Network Tier 3 Engineer to provide advanced network engineering support for the U.S. Air Force Executive Airlift Communications Network program. The engineer will analyze, design, configure, test, and sustain network infrastructure supporting secure voice, video, and data communications across operational Air-to-GIG Gateways and the EACN Systems Integration Laboratory.
The Network Tier 3 Engineer will support network architecture, configuration management, troubleshooting, performance optimization, technology integration, and implementation of approved hardware and software changes. The engineer will also help maintain the EACN baseline configuration and ensure modifications are tested in the Systems Integration Laboratory before deployment to operational environments.
This position requires on-site performance at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and may require travel to Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, or other supported locations.

The Network Tier 3 Engineer will:
- Provide advanced network analysis, design, engineering, and technical support for EACN infrastructure.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies that improve network performance, resilience, security, and mission capability.
- Maintain the EACN baseline configuration and supporting Systems Integration Laboratory environment.
- Install and functionally test software versions, patches, technical orders, security updates, and configuration changes.
- Validate hardware, software, and network modifications in the laboratory before operational deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues affecting operational gateways, connected platforms, and supported mission systems.
- Configure and sustain routers, switches, firewalls, servers, encryption devices, VoIP components, and network-management tools.
- Support network upgrades, equipment replacement, system cutovers, and integration of new transport capabilities.
- Develop and maintain network installation guides, topology diagrams, checklists, configuration records, and technical documentation.
- Create scripts, executables, graphs, and maps supporting network configuration, monitoring, and analysis.
- Monitor network availability, utilization , outages, capacity, and overall system health.
- Perform system backups, disk management, patching, and approved server-maintenance activities.
- Design and implement fault-tolerant and disaster-recovery solutions for network devices and servers.
- Support Voice over Internet Protocol capabilities across the laboratory and operational gateway environments.
- Coordinate technical activities with Government engineers, cybersecurity personnel, site technicians, and mission partners.
- Train incoming Government and contractor personnel on EACN network configurations and operating standards.
- Ensure network changes comply with DISA STIGs, USCYBERCOM directives, Air Force requirements, and approved configuration-management processes.
Clearance Requirement:
Must hold an active Top Secret clearance.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology , Computer Science, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field .
Experience:
- Minimum five years of relevant network engineering experience.
- Experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and sustaining enterprise LAN and WAN environments.
- Experience supporting routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, TCP/IP, network-management systems, and secure communications infrastructure.
- Experience working in classified or mission-critical Department of Defense environments preferred.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed operational sites, test laboratories, or integration environments preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, network architecture, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of Cisco network technologies, firewalls, encryption, SNMP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, IPv4, and IPv6.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, storage systems, and VoIP environments.
- Experience using network monitoring and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or comparable platforms.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, cybersecurity directives, configuration management, and laboratory-to-production testing processes.
- Ability to develop scripts and automation supporting network configuration and analysis.
Certifications :
- Cisco Certified Network Professional certification required at the time of contract award.
- Appropriate DoDM 8140.03 and IAT Level II certification required .
- Additional Cisco, cybersecurity, Linux, Microsoft, or VMware certifications preferred.
Skills:
- Strong network troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering priorities and technical issues.
- Ability to collaborate with Government engineers, cybersecurity teams, and site personnel.
- Ability to perform duties on-site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and travel as required .
Compensation: Anticipated salary range is $79,759.00-$88,215.00 per year
