Valiant is looking for a Joint Training Assessment Specialist to join our team!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Lead overall assessment of USAFE Exercise Program.
  • Assist/inform Component exercise planners as they develop exercise/training objectives in support of USAFE and Numbered Air Force (NAF) readiness requirements.
  • Support scoring and ranking of Exercise Program events and proposals.
  • Develop Exercise Program-wide messaging on its effectiveness, accomplishments, and impacts to USAFE leadership and HQ USEUCOM.
  • Provide input to the development of the annual Commander's Training Guidance (CTG), annual readiness discrepancy assessment, and annual training assessment, as they apply to USAFE's training and exercise responsibilities as a Service Component.
  • Assess Exercise Program alignment (individual exercises and collectively) with current published and emerging guidance, from HQ USEUCOM down through USAFE and Numbered Air Force level. Guidance documents include the HQ USEUCOM Theater Campaign Order (TCO), Combatant Command Campaign Plan (CCP), JTEEP Program Assessment Guidance (PAG), USAFE Strategic Guidance and Commander's Intent, NAF-level training guidance, and applicable Air Force-level instructions, as well as emerging direction such as Global Integration, Large Scale Global Exercise (LSGE), and and other exercises as directed.
  • Synchronize HQ USAFE assessments of individual Exercise Program events, ensuring Component-level inputs are nested with and responsive to HQ USEUCOM and USAFRICOM J7 requirements.
  • Collect metrics, measures of effectiveness, and descriptive narrative to report up to HQ USEUCOM J7, supporting USEUCOM's broader Joint Exercise Program reporting to Combatant Command, OSD and JS J7.
  • Work with exercise data managers and systems specialists (JTT, C2IE, Maven, etc.) to ensure USAFE exercise data is accurately captured, tracked, and reportable across echelons.
  • Other duties as assigned.




CLEARANCE REQUIRMENT: Active TS/SCI

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8+ years of experience supporting strategic or operational assessments at USAF Major Command, U.S. military staff, including the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, or Office of the Secretary of Defense.
  • Familiarity with the After Action Report (AAR) process, including the requirement for participating USAF organizations to summarize exercise activities, evaluate actions taken, and identify strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of AFI 10-1302, Air Force Lessons Learned Program, and its requirements for posting and forwarding AARs through proper channels.
  • Understanding of the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) and the requirement for commanders at all levels to ensure exercise readiness outcomes are accurately reflected within it.
  • Familiarity with how MAJCOMs/C-MAJCOMs, NAFs/C-NAFs, NGB, and the Exercise and Combat Wargame Group (ECWG) use DRRS exercise readiness assessments, Objective Training Indicator (OTI) metrics, performance-based measures, Lessons Learned (L2) data, and AARs to inform exercise priorities.
  • Ability to identify and route capability gaps surfaced through exercise assessment to the appropriate requirements offices and/or forums (e.g., requirements office, WEPTAC, JROC) to inform future warfighter requirements.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to translate raw exercise data, observations, and AAR input into clear assessments of organizational strengths, weaknesses, and risk, suitable for informing commander decision-making and resource prioritization.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to formal military assessment processes, exercise evaluation, or readiness reporting in a DoD or Air Force environment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
