Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, sustainment, and modernization of U.S. Air Force aircraft and weapon systems throughout the system lifecycle. This role will provide technical engineering support across system design, airworthiness, safety, integration, testing, configuration management, and sustainment activities while ensuring compliance with DoD and Air Force engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, verification, testing, fielding, and sustainment.
  • Provide systems integration support for aircraft and weapon system modifications, upgrades, and modernization efforts.
  • Apply Air Force airworthiness and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) processes to ensure safe and compliant system operation.
  • Perform technical assessments, trade studies, risk analyses, and engineering evaluations related to cost, schedule, performance, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Review and evaluate engineering documentation, technical proposals, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and system modifications.
  • Support system safety activities, including hazard analyses, risk assessments, and resolution of safety issues.
  • Assist with configuration management, system architecture, interoperability, and engineering baseline development.
  • Translate operational user needs into technical system requirements and support documentation throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Support engineering reviews and program milestones, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR, PMRs, and other technical working groups.
  • Develop technical reports, engineering analyses, executive briefings, and acquisition documentation supporting program decisions.
  • Provide engineering support for contractor evaluations, source selections, and lifecycle engineering planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Air Force Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE), MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria, and applicable DoD engineering policies.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
  • 15+ years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD or military programs.
  • Experience supporting aircraft or weapon system development, integration, sustainment, or modernization.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes across the full system lifecycle.
  • Experience with airworthiness, system safety, OSS&E, or military certification processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Air Force aircraft programs.
  • Background in engineering management, configuration management, and data management.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), technology integration, and modernization efforts.
  • Familiarity with FAA and military airworthiness certification requirements.
  • Experience with test planning, execution, analysis, and systems verification.
  • Knowledge of DMSMS, obsolescence management, and lifecycle sustainment engineering.
