Work Schedule: Initially, 5 days a week onsite. After move, hybrid; 3 days a week onsite, 2 days a week remote with the ability to flex your schedule based on the customer’s needs
Position Overview: ZenPoint Solutions is looking for a Section 508 Compliance Specialist to champion accessibility for a federal customer. This role offers deep exposure to Diplomatic Technology ICT and cross-functional operations across multiple federal customer bureaus. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the client—evaluating website assessments, designing robust remediation plans, and providing the crucial subject matter expertise ICT owners need to successfully bridge compliance gaps.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a Section 508 subject matter expert and stay informed of federal guidelines as they evolve.
Review Agency policies and procedures pertaining to Section 508 and make necessary modifications to keep them up to date with the latest Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Accessibility Standards and Guidelines.
Identify, advise on, and execute accessibility improvements for applications and digital materials.
Conduct Section 508 conformance training and briefings for IT employees and other divisions to ensure institutional alignment with federal accessibility mandates.
Develop high-quality training materials for IT professionals and advise on new tools and processes to enable adherence to accessibility standards.
Coordinate across multiple organizations, teams, and programs to understand how websites are evolving while maintaining strict accessibility.
Create and maintain a backlog of projects related to accessibility standards, supporting roadmap creation on future initiatives where accessibility must be considered.
Facilitate accessibility program meetings to share required and best practices across multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
Efficiently communicate and correspond with internal and external clients, attending regular and ad hoc project meetings.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a government-led environment, including providing guidance, continuity, and technical expertise while supporting leadership personnel with varying levels of subject matter familiarity.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected
Minimum of 5 years of structured experience in a Section 508 compliance, conformance, and remediation role under U.S. Access Board’s ICT Baseline Portfolio and WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA.
Hold a current DHS Trusted Tester (Version 5) certification, or possess the ability to successfully complete and obtain the certification within the first 60 days of employment.
Demonstrated experience in project management, complemented by strong organizational skills and adeptness in collaborating effectively across various levels of leadership and with peers.
Proven experience testing accessibility using tools such as screen reader software (JAWS and NVDA) and utilizing the Trusted Tester testing process on web applications, webpages, PDFs, and other documents.
Expert experience with SharePoint design and development, and highly proficient with ServiceNow.
Previous testing with PowerApps and other cloud applications.
Experience using web accessibility evaluation software to run and analyze reports from automated scans; ability to identify and address areas requiring modifications (including optimized layout, site performance, and browser compatibility).
Ability to produce clear, actionable accessibility reports and documentation for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Strong interpersonal and client-facing experience conveying technical requirements, options, and limitations, as well as brainstorming creative solutions alongside IT staff.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Familiarity with AI, and the use and limitation of AI in context of Section 508 testing.
Bachelor's Degree—preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline—or equivalent professional experience (at least 5 years).
Preferred Qualifications:
7 or more years of structured software quality assurance engineering experience with a heavy emphasis on 508 conformance testing.
5 years of hands-on experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support front-end remediation.
Subject matter expertise in W3C WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards and advanced ICT guidelines.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
