Cyber Advisor

KBR is seeking a highly qualified candidate to act as the Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to a government customer in the Northern Virginia area. The Cybersecurity Advisor assists the customer in cybersecurity strategy and governance by advising on priorities, policy updates, and governance actions to ensure they align with mission requirements.


  • Supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, reciprocity initiatives, and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Providing guidance on zero trust planning, identity, segmentation, encryption, and secure access patterns.
  • Advise on incident response processes, vulnerability management, and security operations improvements.
  • Integrate security into DevSecOp development pipelines and acquisition planning.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and briefs for reporting to executive leadership.



  • Experience advising executive leadership on cybersecurity strategy, governance, and risk management for complex enterprises.
  • Experience with security frameworks and concepts (e.g., R.MF, NIST CSF/800-53, zero trust, identity and access management).
  • Experience improving ATO processes and promoting reciprocity
  • Experience developing security policies/standards and implementation guidance.
  • Required Education \ Relevant Experience:
  • Master's Degree or higher in Business or Master's Degree in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) and 6 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or STEM and 8 years of experience
  • High school or High School Equivalency Diploma and 12 years of experience



  • Experience overseeing incident response planning, vulnerability management, and security monitoring concepts.
  • Experience integrating cybersecurity into acquisition and system engineering (security-by-designDevSecOps).
  • Experience briefing senior leaders and coordinating across multiple organizations.




$160,200 - $195,800

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
