Position Title: Warehouse Specialist


Location: Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center


(MARMC), Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA


Security Clearance: Secret


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Shipping and Receiving support. Respond to requests from warehouse lead for logistics support. Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage. Note and report discrepancies and obvious damages. Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials.

  • Maintain and oversee inventory of required material in warehouse locations. Other duties may include material handling, packaging, marking, movement; routing materials to prescribed storage locations. Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods. Operate power lifts, hand trucks, carts, and other material handling equipment in performing warehousing duties.

  • Perform onsite material turnover to Local Maintenance Activity (LMA) as needed to ensure proper receipt of Long Lead Time Materials (LLTM) requirements as well as identifying material discrepancies, multipacks, and damaged or inadequate receipt of material. Receipt inspection may occur at the local storage facility.

  • Provide updates from material turnover to Material Access Technology (MAT) Database and the GFM Module, file turnover documents (1348's/1149s) IAW supply chain procedures.

  • Assist the local storage facility in the performance of inventories for affected availabilities.

  • Assist with Allowance Type Code 6 (AT6) material pickups.



Knowledge and Qualifications


  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience with Navy warehousing, supply and logistics.

  • Working knowledge of the following software applications: Material Access Technology (MAT), Material Requirements (MRQT), ONE TOUCH, FEDMALL, Defense Supply System (DSS)/Warehouse Management System (WMS).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint.

  • Ability to be certified to operate handle power lifts, hand trucks, carts and other material handling equipment in performing warehousing duties. Ability to be certified to handle PCMS tiles, performance and non-disclosure agreements, and PCMS certification plans.

  • Familiar with Navy transportation and transfer documentation such as DD1149 and DD1348.

  • United States Citizen

  • Active Secret Clearance.

  • U.S. Navy Veteran is a significant plus.



Physical requirements for efficient navigation aboard US Navy ships


  • Contractors under the Production Department (C900) must possess the physical stamina to walk continuously for extended periods of time without experiencing significant fatigue. This includes traversing across inclined or uneven surfaces, through/into crowded/confined areas/spaces, up and down ladders/stairs, and in areas of varying environmental qualities.

  • Contractors under the Production Department (C900) must possess adequate upper and lower-body strength necessary to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps. The contractor should possess the physical strength, agility, endurance, and mental constitution required to work aloft (as required). This may require the contractor perform work over the side of a ship's hull, on the mast, or in areas on the superstructure and at a height that requires the use of a safety harness. This upper and lower body strength and endurance should also be sufficient for the contractor to hand-carry necessary tools, parts, materials, and equipment through narrow passageways, up and down ladders, and into/out of confined spaces.
