  • Support the acquisition, development, sustainment, and modernization of weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment while providing technical expertise to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E).
  • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), maintain configuration baselines, participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), technology insertion initiatives, and technical/programmatic reviews, while supporting failure analysis and improvements to reliability, maintainability, and availability.
  • Support the entire weapon system lifecycle by conducting analyses of alternatives, developing investment strategies, supporting design, manufacturing, sustainment, remanufacturing, and end-of-life activities using DoD and Air Force engineering principles.
  • Translate user and operational requirements into system requirements, develop and review system architecture and interoperability baselines, analyze proposals, specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and participate in IPT meetings, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), audits, In-Process Reviews (IPRs), and design reviews.
  • Assist with requirements development by defining technical needs, supporting technology planning, improving manufacturing and demilitarization capabilities, performing mission analyses, developing system concepts, and conducting trade-off studies for proposed designs.
  • Support system design by reviewing architecture and interoperability requirements, evaluating mission documentation, defining mission scenarios, and participating in system requirement reviews, design reviews, technical meetings, and test readiness reviews.
  • Analyze engineering changes, regulatory updates, and policy-driven modifications for design feasibility and compatibility while developing and reviewing system specifications, equipment specifications, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), ICDs, configuration audits, and state-of-the-art assessments.
  • Support engineering planning through development and evaluation of Integrated Master Plans (IMPs), Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs), Systems Engineering Detail Schedules (SEDS), engineering cost estimates, system test plans, and participation in system, subsystem, and component testing.
  • Provide systems and subsystem integration support throughout acquisition, development, verification, validation, and deployment to ensure successful integration of equipment and capabilities.
  • Conduct lifecycle engineering analyses including performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, lifecycle cost analysis, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and schedule trade-off studies.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across all levels of management, facilitate communication among functional organizations, and support engineering committees and boards responsible for resolving technical issues and implementing program decisions.
  • Evaluate engineering data products including specifications, drawings, proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), plans, reports, lifecycle cost estimates, and other contractor- and government-generated technical documentation for compliance and program impact.
  • Support preparation of key engineering documentation including System Requirements Documents, Systems Engineering Plans, Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluations, OSS&E Baseline Documents, Systems Engineering Assessments, risk assessments, technical briefings, and acquisition program status reports.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to support the design, development, production, procurement, testing, and validation of aircrew and maintenance training systems, while recommending technical policies, leading multidisciplinary engineering efforts, and supporting CONUS and OCONUS bed-down planning.
  • Provide technical guidance to major AFLCMC programs by conducting feasibility studies, evaluating emerging technologies, monitoring technology trends, assessing technical risks, supporting engineering investigations, reviewing training plans and test documentation, and serving as a non-voting technical advisor during source selections under NDA.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation including Security Classification Guides (SCGs), Program Security Directives (PSDs), Technology Assessment and Control Plans (TA/CPs), Program Protection Plans (PPPs), Anti-Tamper (AT) plans, physical security documentation, export control compliance, security policy recommendations, and Air Force electronic records management.
  • Support Program Protection activities by maintaining PPP databases, participating in security working groups, identifying Critical Program Information (CPI), performing Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) and criticality reviews, assessing threats and vulnerabilities, recommending cost-effective security countermeasures, and integrating lifecycle security protections.
  • Provide systems engineering support through technical planning, integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses, supportability assessments, system requirements definition, vendor design and proposal reviews, functional analyses, trade studies, technical reviews, and test and evaluation activities while coordinating with government agencies, prototype facilities, commercial vendors, and engineering firms.
