Electronics Rework Technician

PCB/CCA Soldering, IPC J-STD-001, & DoD Electronics

Huntsville, AL

$35.08 - $44.22 /Hour

U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

We are hiring an Electronics Rework Technician to perform component-level circuit card assembly (CCA) repair, soldering, modification, and testing in support of defense and aerospace electronic systems. This role requires expertise in IPC J-STD-001, DoD and NASA soldering standards, PCB rework, electronics troubleshooting, schematics, AOI inspection, and component-level repair within a high-quality manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform rapid repair, rework, and modification of circuit card assemblies (CCAs), electronic assemblies, and subassemblies.
  • Execute simple and complex component-level soldering, desoldering, and repair activities in accordance with IPC and J-STD-001 requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, 2D/3D models, technical illustrations, and work instructions to complete assigned work.
  • Perform component installation, replacement, adjustment, fit checks, fastener alignment, electrical connections, and subassembly integration.
  • Document component-level nonconformances and completed repair activities using approved procedures and released technical documentation.
  • Collect, document, and enter production data to support Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Inspect completed work to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform approved engineering changes, modifications, repairs, and rework on electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Utilize shop tools, soldering equipment, pneumatic tools, measuring instruments, and test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist in defining work scope, implementing repair processes, and improving manufacturing and integration procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and repair effectiveness.
  • Maintain CCA repair logs, charts, reports, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Handle hazardous materials and waste in accordance with approved procedures, when qualified.
  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and training necessary to perform electronic rework activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work any shift.
  • 5-7 years of experience performing electronic rework and repair using hand and pneumatic tools.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing component-level soldering and electronic circuit board repair.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working to IPC J-STD-001 requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA assembly soldering specifications.
  • Experience assembling, repairing, modifying, and troubleshooting printed circuit boards (PCBs) and circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience installing, replacing, soldering, and desoldering electronic components including integrated circuits, transistors, resistors, capacitors, relays, and other electronic devices.
  • Experience performing Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and quality inspections.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including file management, desktop navigation, printer connectivity, and system settings.
  • Experience documenting manufacturing, repair, inspection, and quality records.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail required.
  • Experience working safely in a clean manufacturing environment while following established safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, military, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing programs.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) data collection and analysis.
  • Experience implementing process improvements in electronics manufacturing or repair environments.
  • Additional IPC certifications related to electronics assembly or inspection.
