Functional Area Lead/Network Manager (NM) is responsible for management of the daily activities by overseeing all aspects of the network, from its design and implementation to daily operations and troubleshooting. The manager must ensure that the network (NIPR and commercial WiFi) operates reliably and efficiently, providing necessary support to users while safeguarding the system against potential threats. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning. The manager is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing the organization's computer networks while ensuring optimal performance and supporting business operations. Responsible for Windows system administrator functions supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure in a mixed Windows environment. The manager will provide senior level knowledge and Tier 1/2 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 1/2 infrastructure troubleshooting and support that involves the configuration and administration of servers in their area of operation. Responsible for network maintenance and monitoring, to include security management. Unaccompanied with company provided housing.
Responsibilities
Ke y Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a staff of computer technicians, server system administrator, and cybersecurity professionals managing network operations and user support.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation of the network architecture, configurations, and procedures, ensuring compliance with USG standards and policies to improve the network optimization and resource utilization.
- Supervises and manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems. Trains IT team and users.
- Conducts regular network performance assessments and recommends network performance improvements.
- Establish and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and access controls to protect against cyber threats.
- Manages network hardware and software upgrades. Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
- Collaborates with other IT teams for network integration. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing.
- Develops and implements backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and contingency measures to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems.
- Manages the Information Technology Department in providing technical support and troubleshooting for military and commercial networks, to include AFN and Pirate Radio stations,
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Material & Equipment Directly Used
- May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE) such as flak vest and Kevlar helmet; may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment. Use of cell phones to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
Qualifications
Education :
- One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. Use the guide below to determine education and experience for this position.
- BA/BS +5 years recent specialized or AA/AS +7 years recent specialized or major cert + 7 years recent specialized experience.
Certifications :
- Secret Clearance
- CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Experience :
- Information technology and network project management.
- Leading Information Technology teams.
- Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
- Experience working in VMware ESXi environments.
- Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS)
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions
- Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
- Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
- The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.
Other Requirements:
- ITIL v3 - Foundation
- Azure Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
- Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files.
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM
- Experience working with DoD or government contracts preferred.
