Job Description



  • You will be responsible for control of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical/and Combat Systems I level production onboard Pacific Fleet Nuclear Submarines.
  • You will plan, coordinate and direct the overall production management function for the Production Department.
  • You will ensure that the command's SUBSAFE program is carried out during execution of all assigned SUBSAFE maintenance.
  • You will be responsible for assigning and defining responsibilities and duties of subordinates.
  • You will be responsible for carrying out and redirecting planning for prospective changes in submarine production functions and programs.
  • You will ensure consistency of products, conformance with formal standards, and command policies while pursuing continuous process improvement.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

* Experience using processes required to plan and execute "I-Level" maintenance on assigned submarines.
* Experience improving and streamlining process compliance to reduce cycle times and increase the responsiveness of ship repair efforts and stabilize schedule performance.
* Experience organizing and administering work functions assigned to the Production Department to ensure timely and satisfactory completion.
* Experience in workload forecasting, scheduling, expediting and prioritizing tasks, material monitoring, job revisions, and managing scheduling impacts.
* Experience with production-oriented submarine overhaul and repair operations.
