Position Summary
The SAP Functional Consultant – Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) supports the design, configuration, implementation, testing, and sustainment of SAP S/4HANA Environment, Health & Safety Management (EHSM) capabilities within the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS) program. This position partners with functional leads, business process owners, developers, and government stakeholders to modernize DoD environmental compliance, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and hazardous/dangerous goods management processes while ensuring alignment with federal, DoD, and international regulatory requirements.
This is a remote position with periodic travel required to program sites for workshops, testing events, stakeholder engagement, and deployment support.
Key Responsibilities
• Configure and support SAP S/4HANA Environment, Health & Safety Management (EHSM) functionality, including incident management, risk assessment, industrial hygiene and occupational health, product and regulatory compliance, and hazardous substance management.
• Analyze customer business requirements and translate them into functional designs, system configurations, and technical specifications.
• Support end-to-end business process integration across SAP modules including:
◦ Materials Management (MM)
◦ Transportation Management (TM)
◦ Quality Management (QM)
◦ Human Resources / Human Capital Management (HR/HCM)
• Configure and maintain Dangerous Goods Management functionality supporting compliant packaging, labeling, and shipping of hazardous materials across DoD and commercial transportation modes.
• Support hazardous substance and safety data sheet (SDS) management, including classification, labeling, and regulatory documentation.
• Participate in Fit-to-Standard workshops, business process design sessions, and solution demonstrations.
• Develop Functional Design Documents (FDDs), configuration documentation, test scripts, user guides, and training materials.
• Prepare functional specifications for Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows (RICEFW).
• Collaborate with ABAP developers to define functional requirements for enhancements, reports, interfaces, forms, and workflows.
• Execute unit, system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing while supporting defect analysis and resolution.
• Support data migration activities including hazardous substance master data, safety data sheets, incident records, and compliance documentation.
• Assist with release planning, production deployments, and post-production support.
• Troubleshoot functional issues and provide Tier II/Tier III production support.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Support Authority to Operate (ATO), cybersecurity, and audit activities as required.
• Support environmental, health, and safety compliance reporting for regulatory and audit purposes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of SAP Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) functional experience.
• Experience implementing or supporting SAP S/4HANA.
• Strong understanding of:

◦ Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health
◦ Product and Regulatory Compliance
◦ Hazardous Substance Management
◦ Dangerous Goods Management
• Experience writing functional specifications for custom developments.
• Experience supporting testing and defect resolution.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Ability to travel periodically (up to 25%) to program and customer sites.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal ERP programs.
• Experience with SAP Activate methodology.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum software development.
• Experience integrating EHS with:
◦ Materials Management (MM)
◦ Transportation Management (TM)
◦ Quality Management (QM)
◦ Global Trade Services (GTS)
• Familiarity with DOT hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR), IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and IMDG Code.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DoD environmental and occupational safety regulations.
• Familiarity with SAP Fiori applications.
• Experience with Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM.
• Understanding of transportation and logistics business processes.
• Active Secret clearance.

Preferred candidates will have experience supporting large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementations for the Department of Defense, with knowledge of hazardous materials and dangerous goods transportation regulations, environmental compliance, and enterprise logistics processes supporting USTRANSCOM mission operations.
