Sr. Elastic Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Elastic Engineer to support a company focused on delivering advanced security logging and analytics solutions for a Department of Defense mission. This position is on-site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The Senior Elastic Engineer will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Elastic environments, supporting a large-scale migration from Splunk to Elastic. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact mission-critical cybersecurity capabilities supporting national defense operations.

Responsibilities for the Senior Elastic Engineer include:

• Design, build, and manage scalable Elastic clusters and security-focused logging environments
• Develop and implement custom data ingestion pipelines tailored to mission requirements
• Configure and maintain Index Lifecycle Management (ILM) policies for optimal data retention and performance
• Deploy and support Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) using Kubernetes operators
• Troubleshoot and optimize complex Elastic deployments in high-security environments

Required Qualifications for the Senior Elastic Engineer include:

• 7+ years of experience in Elastic engineering or related technologies
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Elastic Stack architecture
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes, including ECK and operator-based deployments
• Proven ability to design custom solutions and resolve complex system issues
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Active Secret clearance (interim Secret or interim Top Secret acceptable)

Compensation for the Senior Elastic Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $190,000 - $230,000 depending on experience
