Expert Hardware and Software Engineer

Job Description

Strategic ACI is seeking a part-time Expert Hardware and Software Engineer to join our team. Strategic ACI provides specialized systems engineering, integration, testing, and data production support to the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Army Geospatial Center (AGC) and the Engineer Research Development Center (ERDC), and Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL). The work involves designing, developing and testing terrestrial and maritime navigation methods for USACE civil and tactical applications.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with Government stakeholders to understand priorities and timelines.
• Work with Program Management Staff to formulate schedules and milestones to meet project objectives.
• Work with a team from government, industry, and academia to support complex navigation solutions across terrestrial, maritime, and airborne systems.
• Utilize knowledge and skills in hardware and software design and development
• Integrate and disseminate software tools for use across Army and other DoD/DoW systems and architectures.
• Work with GRL, ERDC Laboratories, Army Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs) and Capability Program Executives (CPEs) to understand existing positioning requirements.
• Apply software design, collaborative tools, understanding of computational architectures, hardware integration, and Agile methods to solve complex challenges related to assured positioning and navigation within GPS denied environments.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Geography, Remote Sensing, or related discipline.
• 20+ years of experience in a related field (Hardware/Software Engineering, Integration and Development, Navigation, Autonomous Control, GEOINT, Geospatial Systems Engineering, Modeling and Simulation, etc.).
• Experience in developing software with C++.
• Experience with navigation hardware and software (GPS, inertial systems, odometry, etc.).
• Experience with collaborative software tools.
• Experience supporting software tools across multiple operating systems and compute environments.
• Ability to develop and present effective technical presentations.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications, graphic/visual diagram editing.
• Ability to develop and maintain individual milestones and schedules to meet program objectives.
• Familiarity with exploiting 3D terrain data.

Desired:

• Active Secret Clearance (Top Secret/SCI eligible preferred).
• Experience with implementing multi-modal navigation solutions on autonomous vehicles.
• Familiarity with LIDAR, stereo vision and other sensing techniques used within the autonomous navigation community.
• Experience with maritime and airborne sensor systems.
• Low-level software experience (FPGA, PowerPC, VHDL, etc.).
