Position: System Administrator (Linux & Windows Workstations)
Client: L3Harris
Location: Waco, TX (100% Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract (Temp to Perm)
Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule | 8:00 AM Shift
Pay Rate: Up to $70/hr on W2
Position Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for deploying, securing, maintaining, and supporting Linux and Windows desktop and laptop environments used by engineering and technical teams. This role includes workstation administration, virtualization support, endpoint security, software deployment, automation, and troubleshooting across enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and support Linux and Windows workstations.
• Deploy, configure, patch, and maintain desktop and laptop systems.
• Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
• Administer and support Proxmox virtualization environments.
• Support Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins platforms.
• Manage user accounts, authentication, permissions, Active Directory integration, LDAP, and SSO.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, applications, networking, and performance issues.
• Support endpoint security, encryption, antivirus, logging, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
• Automate administrative tasks using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Deploy software packages and developer tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and workstation standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, Cybersecurity, and IT teams to resolve issues and improve system reliability.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of Linux and/or Windows System Administration experience.
• Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
• Experience supporting Proxmox virtualization environments.
• Experience supporting Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
• Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or Single Sign-On (SSO).
• Knowledge of patch management, endpoint hardening, endpoint security, and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving operating systems, networking, hardware, and enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting engineering or software development environments.
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Microsoft Intune, or Group Policy.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and source control administration.
• Experience with virtualization, containers, or cloud infrastructure.
• RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, Microsoft, Atlassian, Jenkins, or equivalent certifications.
