POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR)

Duties

• You will serve as the resident Subject Matter Expert (SME) and resource person in the instructional areas of law enforcement, evidence, terrorism, laws of arrest, search and seizure, basic criminology, etc.
• You will prepare course material for Navy Security Forces (NSF) training objectives.
• You will develop and submit recommendations to the Training Supervisor (as assigned) or other leadership personnel on course content additions, revisions, deletions, etc.
• You will provide classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment and techniques.

• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. "Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

*Experience performing law enforcement (LE), physical security (PS), antiterrorism (AT), and force protection (FP) functions.
*Experience applying knowledge of instructional methods and theories used in a formal Police Office Training environment.
*Experience applying law enforcement procedures, Federal and local laws, traffic laws and established rules, regulations, and legal authorities.
*Experience applying investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents.
*Experience planning lessons, analyzing statistical data, and meeting overall training objectives.
*Minimum of two years' experience as military or civilian law enforcement is required.

Call back and emergency overtime may be required of this position.

Work may include assignment to train second, third, or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.

Must qualify and maintain all basic patrolman qualification standards, so that in the event of heightened Force Protection Condition or other emergent situation which may require the member to stand a patrolman post.
