Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coaching personnel as a Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (SAMI) and Range Safety Officer; 2) Managing live-fire training programs; 3) Directingexplosive safety functions (e.g., receipt, storage, segregation, transportation, handling, inspection, documentation, etc.); 4) Conducting briefings, resolving scheduling conflicts, coordinating logistical support for training events, law enforcement agencies, or military units; 5) Performing weapons qualification and training courses for various firearms (e.g., 9mm pistol, 12 gauge shotgun, M-16/M-4/M-14 rifle, etc.).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). - You will perform safety, security, and training duties for small arms, ammunition, and explosives.
- You will perform range scheduling, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene compliance, small arms brass gleaning, small arms maintenance/cleaning, lead abatement, debris disposal, and other duties.
- You will manage the scheduling and operation of training facilities and ensure proper supplies and equipment are on hand.
- You will develop, implement, schedule, monitor, maintain, and enforce range safety procedures, standard operating procedures, rules, regulations, etc.
- You will provide input regarding the development of range funding requirements.
- You will serve as a Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (SAMI) and Range Safety Officer/Line Coach to include tracking, scheduling, providing weapons training and qualifications, etc.
- You will schedule the use of off installation public and private small arms ranges to facilitate qualification live-fire events.
- You will transport weapons, ammunition, equipment, range personnel, medical supplies, etc.
- You will be responsible for range hazardous waste management including managing disposal areas, maintaining waste identification labels and documents, maintaining waste collection containers, scheduling and ensuring waste removal, etc.
- You will be required to wear safety clothing and equipment.
- You will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- You will be required to work in areas that may have unexploded ammunition, live-fire ranges, explosive devices, weapons firing, loud noises, heavy machinery, construction sites, etc.
- You will write standard operating procedures (SOP), conduct briefings, resolve scheduling conflicts, coordinate logistical support, and create and maintain various records and reports.
- You will perform additional duties at the direction and discretion of supervisors/leadership.

- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
