Job Details/Position Summary

Overview:

All work is performed in accordance with applicable government, manufacturer's maintenance manuals, company directives and other approved data. Performs repair and replacement of airframe and powerplant systems, components and accessories pertaining to scheduled maintenance requirements. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention. Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SOS for materials utilized to complete these tasks. May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals and Company Instructions. Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language.

Major Job Activities

Description:

  • Perform repairs on scheduled maintenance aircraft as authorized by Supervisory personnel.
  • Provides guidance to Mechanic I within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • Assist with ordering tools, parts and material.
  • Ensure proper operation and use of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Tool Control Program.
  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.
  • Required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions.
  • Document work accomplished on government and company Maintenance Information Systems.
  • Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in the classification.
  • May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.
  • Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CSA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.
  • Monitor and assist the lin move crew when operating inside the hangar.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance ground turns; makes repairs and adjustments on the flightline when qualified.
  • Perform other related duties within the job classification.


Working Environment

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

Physical Activities

Physical Effort: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • FAA Airframes & Power Plants License (A & P)* required.
  • CDQAR / CDI Certified *
  • Aircraft Turnup Certification
  • Flight Control Rigging Certification
  • Hydraulic Fluid Sampling Certification
  • Aircraft Towing Certification
  • GSE Licensing *
  • Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1Series
  • Valid State Driver License
  • Airfield Operators License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

# Limited (Task Specific)

Experience:

  • FAA Airframes & Power Plants License (A & P) required.
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic (either fixed wing or helicopter), two (2) years of which must have been on AW119/TH-73 or rotary aircraft.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
