Job Description

BDR Solutions, LLC, (BDR) supports the U.S. Federal Government in successfully achieving its mission and goals. Our service and solution delivery starts with understanding each client's end-state, and then seamlessly integrating within each Agency's organization to improve and enhance business and technical operations and deployments.

Position Summary

BDR Solutions is seeking Senior Middleware / Integration Engineers to lead CBS (Common Business Services) 24x7 production operations and concurrent API modernization. CBS processes ~40M API transactions/month on Java/Spring Boot deployed on OpenShift ECP. This role delivers both sustained O&M and work-package-based CBS API re-engineering to Java microservices. One senior engineer carries Technical Lead duties coordinating all CAS delivery streams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24x7 on-call production support for CBS applications (~40M tx/month on OpenShift ECP); respond to P1 incidents within 30 minutes of IRS notification; restore service within 4 hours
  • Deliver CBS modernization work packages: re-engineer FSIG and Data Services APIs to Java Spring Boot microservices; produce API specifications, data mapping artifacts, deployment-ready packages, and defect corrections
  • Submit root cause analysis inputs for P1/P2 incidents; update operational runbooks and configuration documentation after each change
  • Support IRS-governed release windows: prepare change requests, validate in non-production environments, provide release evidence for Government acceptance
  • Implement approved security vulnerability remediations within IRS-mandated timelines; review AppDynamics and ELK dashboards for anomalies
  • Maintain 100% ServiceNow incident and change logging; produce monthly CBS O&M Performance Reports
  • Coordinate technical delivery sequencing across all CAS task areas; provide risk identification and mitigation inputs; serve as primary technical point of contact

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years designing, developing, and sustaining enterprise Java/Spring Boot REST APIs and middleware integrations
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes container platforms (deployment, pod management, health monitoring)
  • Experience with 24x7 production O&M on mission-critical applications: incident triage, ServiceNow, ELK/Splunk log analysis, AppDynamics performance monitoring
  • Experience with federal IT security compliance: FISMA, ATO sustainment, POA&M remediation support
  • Agile/SAFe delivery in Government-paced milestone environments: FFP work packages, release evidence, Government acceptance
  • Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct IRS D&PE, CBS, BTA, or MFRA program experience
  • IBM webMethods, ESB, or comparable middleware experience
  • Legacy-to-microservices modernization: service decomposition, interface compatibility preservation, migration wave planning
  • OpenShift ECP, Red Hat, Spring Boot, or Spring Cloud certifications

The salary compensation range for this position is 145,000 - $175,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment is not guaranteed and will proceed only if the associated contract is awarded and funded.

In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
