System Administrator

Windows/Linux (RHEL) | Ground Missile Defense

Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

We are hiring a System Administrator in Huntsville, AL to support the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System, a critical component of the U.S. Missile Defense System. This role requires an active Secret security clearance, experience administering Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, and knowledge of DevOps technologies, scripting, cybersecurity compliance, and enterprise infrastructure supporting mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Support mission-critical Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System environments to ensure system reliability, security, and availability.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
  • Support DevOps initiatives utilizing technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, Nexus, and related platforms.
  • Perform system hardening, security compliance activities, and vulnerability remediation using ACAS and other security scanning tools.
  • Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and Network Attached Storage (NAS) environments.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server hardware, including firmware updates and lifecycle support.
  • Troubleshoot system performance, operating system issues, and infrastructure-related problems.
  • Ensure systems comply with Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements and organizational security policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support system integration, maintenance, and mission readiness.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical discipline.
  • Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Experience administering Microsoft Windows and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure within secure or classified environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux scripting tools, including Python, Perl, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with DevOps technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, Nexus, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with security compliance, vulnerability management, and ACAS security scanning.
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions, SAN, and NAS technologies.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and upgrading server hardware and firmware.
  • Ability to work onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Ground Missile Defense (GMD) or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) systems.
  • Additional experience with enterprise automation, infrastructure modernization, or systems integration in classified environments.
