Systems Engineer

Missile Defense | MBSE

Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

We are hiring a Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System, a critical element of the U.S. Missile Defense System. This role requires an active Secret security clearance and experience with systems engineering, requirements development, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), verification and validation, MATLAB, Python, C++, DOORS, Cameo, and system integration supporting mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Support systems engineering activities for the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Apply systems engineering principles, standards, and best practices to support technical planning, system design, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Develop, analyze, and decompose system requirements to ensure complete and traceable technical solutions.
  • Support system-level analysis, integration, and verification activities to ensure compliance with customer and program requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system models, behavioral models, and functional architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
  • Assist with algorithm development, technical planning, and systems analysis activities.
  • Support formal requirements verification, validation, and test planning.
  • Perform data analysis and develop automation scripts to improve engineering and testing efficiency.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Rhapsody, SolidWorks, Visio, MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar technologies.
  • Interpret system drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external customers to support program objectives and milestone completion.
  • Support Agile engineering processes and participate in technical reviews and project activities.
  • Travel up to 10% as required to support program needs.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active, in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional systems engineering experience; or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience; or Master's degree in a related field with no professional experience required.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience supporting technical problem solving for systems of moderate complexity.
  • Ability to support systems engineering efforts with minimal supervision while contributing to project milestones and technical deliverables.
  • Experience collaborating with internal engineering teams and external customers.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Ability to work onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or Ground Missile Defense (GMD) programs.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including behavioral and functional modeling.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Technical planning and algorithm development experience.
  • Experience with formal requirements testing, verification, and validation.
  • Experience with mechanical or electrical design tools such as SolidWorks or Visio.
  • Experience performing data analysis and developing automated testing or scripting solutions.
  • Experience with systems analysis, systems integration, and requirements decomposition.
  • Experience using IBM DOORS Requirements Management software.
  • Experience with systems architecture tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or IBM Rhapsody.
  • Ability to interpret system drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, terminology, and engineering best practices.
