Insight Global is currently seeking a IT Support Specialist (Help Desk / Systems & Lab Support) to join a client in the government/defense lab environment. This individual will serve as the first line of support for lab systems, assisting users with onboarding, account setup, and troubleshooting across MacOS, iOS, VPN, and virtual desktop environments. They will manage and document help desk tickets, ensuring timely resolution of issues while maintaining accurate records of assets and inventory in coordination with asset management teams. The role will also include supporting systems administration functions such as patching, updates, and maintaining network infrastructure, as well as assisting with NetApp SAN storage operations under guidance. Additionally, the candidate will help implement new technologies within the lab and contribute to improving SOPs and operational processes. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting a wide range of technical needs in a secure environment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred) and ability to obtain DHS Suitability
- Bachelor's Degree AND 3+ years of relevant experience; 1+ years in IT Help Desk support
- 3+ years of MacOS and iOS support experience required, no exceptions
- Experience with help desk ticketing systems and asset management practices
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting VPNs and/or virtual desktop environments (Citrix/VMware)
- Ability to manage user accounts and credentials
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate across distributed teams
- Certifications: Security +
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience writing SOPs and technical procedures
- Experience with virtualization automation and optimization
- Familiarity with NetApp storage and ONTAP
- Security+ or similar certification
- Experience with network patching and infrastructure maintenance
Compensation: $35-$40/hour
