Job Description

Duties

  • Advise the Command Group and senior staff on complex public issues to ensure the accurate alignment of strategic communication policies.
  • Manage media inquiries regarding sensitive depot operations to ensure technical accuracy and prevent public misunderstanding.
  • Analyze public opinion trends to identify shifting community perceptions and align depot policies with public interests.
  • Review all informational materials prior to dissemination to verify absolute conformance with Army security and propriety policies.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license and government motor vehicle license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires pre-employment OGE 450 financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a Government Driver's License.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year Supervisory probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Responsible for managing public affairs programs for the installation; Directing internal and/or external information strategies; Coordinating project execution of public affairs events (e.g. multimedia, audiovisual, mail distribution or administrative). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
