This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE, and includes: 1) Overhaul, repair, and modify aerospace fittings and structural components by interpreting blueprints, local engineering specifications, and engineering dispositions; (2) Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges) to execute high-tolerance machining operations in accordance with aerospace specifications; (3) Perform dimensional and structural inspections on aircraft modules, including flight control surfaces, wing structures, pylons, and landing gear assemblies; (4) Remove, design, fabricate, and install precision-fit bushings and sleeve assemblies on various aircraft modules and structures; (5) Set up, program, and safely operate manual mill and lathe machinery to manufacture replacement parts from specialized aerospace alloys (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel); (6) Apply working knowledge and understanding of metals to choose proper tooling, set machine speeds, and conduct approved heat treatments; and (7) Maintain compliance with aviation safety protocols, tool control programs, and quality assurance standards to ensure zero-defect production.

- You will provide technical leadership to artisans performing aircraft field service repairs, modifications, and rework of aircraft structures and components.

- You will set up, program, and safely operate manual mill and lathe machinery to manufacture replacement parts from specialized aerospace alloys (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel).
- You will apply in-depth working knowledge and understanding of metals to choose proper tooling, set machine speeds, and conduct approved heat treatments.
- You will maintain compliance with aviation safety protocols, tool control programs, and quality assurance standards to ensure zero-defect production.
- You will utilize trade mathematics to accomplish a variety of machining and aircraft projects.
- You will perform other duties as assigned.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds without assistance, and over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
- Due to frequent or infrequent travel and complexity of the mission, the selectee may be exposed to long or irregular work hours during travel and at their final destination.
- The incumbent must participate in a medical surveillance program for noise, sight, respirator, and hand/arm vibration.
