Job Description

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY BUDGET ANALYST at the GS-0560-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Supervises and directs the preparation, formulation, justification, presentation, execution, and analysis of the budget for assigned organization(s).
  • Provide guidance, direction, and control to all organizational elements and subordinate echelons on all phases of budget formulation.
    Develop local schedules to meet time phased requirements and furnishes formats for preparation of estimates.
  • Analyze trends in fund utilization and prepare periodic cost and performance reports to compare actual with forecasts.
  • Keep employees informed on management goals and objectives, as well as changes in regulations, policies, and procedures governing the work.
  • Identify employee training needs, locates sources and initiates training requests.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Provide budgetary and technical leadership for the development of cost estimates associated with long-range multi-year studies
  • Prepare narrative statements for all budget submissions to higher headquarters
  • Establish financial management procedures for continual review and surveillance of fund subdivisions and limitations to minimize occurrences of violations
  • Develop performance plans and appraises employees.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
