POSITION SUMMARY
Research technical data (i.e., MTBF, EOL/EOS) for COTS items, write and edit deliverable technical publications, configuration documentation, and Integrated Logistics Support documentation for ASI products. Technical publications including operation and maintenance manuals, preventive maintenance systems, instructor utilization handbooks, COTS manuals, and other ILS/configuration documentation as required by the contract. Ensure all product details are accurate and in compliance with contractual while supporting the overall program objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, write, edit project documentation deliverables (e.g. Technical Reference Manuals, Procedures, System Operation & Maintenance Manuals, Instructor Utilization Handbooks, Training System Support Document) in accordance with Data Item Descriptions, Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCR), and/or S1000D XML specifications.
- Execute and manage all aspects of assigned own projects, including planning, researching, data gathering, writing, data validation, review process, coordination of other departmental resources, and publication.
- Work closely with product development teams using written and face-to-face communications. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all technical information, and related data contents of documentation.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
- Review published materials to recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
- Utilize manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings and other data related to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment.
- Select and/or create photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to best illustrate materials.
- Create/modify illustrations to enhance specified materials or assembly sequence.
- Interpret contract requirements and communicate compliance approach in both verbal and meeting presentation format.
- Assist with creation, duplication, and distribution of material.
- Organize and compile COTS Manuals for submittal to the customer in accordance with specifications.
- Provide Logistics support for DMSMS, spares provisioning, maintainability and reliability analysis.
- Maintain ongoing collaboration with Logistics customer counterparts to proactively manage expectations and mitigate project risks.
- Work with a team of writers/logisticians fulfilling primary and secondary roles over numerous projects.

- Ability to collect, research, organize, and synthesize material from inspection of systems, engineering documentation, and oral discussions with personnel responsible for trainer systems.
- Ability to understand and follow contractual requirements and work with stakeholders to clarify and refine those requirements when ambiguous or open to interpretation.
- Ability to establish and follow schedules and balance competing demands for limited resources.
- High proficiency in using MS Office, Visio, HTML documentation, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Technical writing style that focuses on order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Working knowledge of writing processes, principles and techniques in research and writing.
- Experience in a highly regulated environment.
- Proven ability to analyze highly technical information.

- Technical writing experience in the flight simulator industry is preferred.
- Technical writing experience in Department of Defense, Military or Aviation Standards is required..
- S1000D XML schema structure for IETMs (Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals) experience is preferred.
- Working experience using Adobe Illustrator, , and XML (Arbortext) publishing is preferred. Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks is a plus.
- Logistics experience providing maintainability/reliability analysis for customers is preferred.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communications or Engineering (with Technical Writing and/or Integrated Logistics Support experience).
