About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to support an upcoming federal contract. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud-based data solutions that support enterprise applications serving millions of users annually.
This position requires expertise in data science, AI architecture, cloud data platforms, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will transform complex data into actionable insights while developing scalable, secure, and high-performing analytical solutions.
Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (Candidates must reside in D.C., Virginia, or Maryland) - Hybrid: On-site 1 day per week

Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models and machine learning algorithms to address business challenges.
- Develop AI-enabled solutions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector database, and graph database architectures.
- Design and optimize enterprise data architectures supporting AI and machine learning applications.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Microsoft Azure data services.
- Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Apply statistical analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning, and Generative AI techniques to solve complex business challenges.
- Support all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, quality assurance, deployment, and production support.
- Ensure data quality, system performance, and compliance with security and data governance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and Government stakeholders to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency and analytical capabilities.
- Communicate complex analytical results and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay current with emerging data science techniques, tools, and industry trends to continuously enhance capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science or a closely related analytical role.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Practical experience designing AI data architectures, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and graph databases.
- Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
- Experience supporting Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities, including testing and quality assurance.
- Proficiency with SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting Federal Government IT programs or enterprise-scale systems.
- Experience implementing Generative AI or large language model (LLM) solutions.
- Experience with Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Databricks.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Microsoft Azure, Databricks, or related cloud certifications.
