Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support classified cybersecurity operations for the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, security governance, risk management, and continuous monitoring of classified information systems supporting critical national security missions. The ideal candidate has experience working within federal cybersecurity frameworks and classified environments while partnering with technical and program stakeholders to maintain secure operations.

Work Environment:
Full-time, on-site role in Washington, DC supporting cybersecurity, compliance, and security operations for mission-critical DOE/NNSA classified systems.
Clearance Requirement:
- Active Top Secret clearance or DOE Q Clearance required .
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required access for classified DOE/NNSA environments.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and security controls for classified information systems.
- Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including system assessments, authorization packages, and continuous monitoring.
- Conduct security reviews, vulnerability assessments, and compliance evaluations to ensure adherence to federal and DOE/NNSA requirements.
- Monitor and track security findings, POA&Ms, and remediation efforts.
- Assist with incident response activities, security investigations, and corrective actions.
- Review system configurations and security implementations to ensure compliance with approved baselines and security standards.
- Coordinate with system administrators, engineers, ISSMs, and program teams to maintain secure operations.
- Maintain security documentation including SSPs, security plans, audit artifacts, and accreditation packages.
- Support government inspections, audits, and security assessments.
- Provide security guidance and awareness to users and stakeholders regarding cybersecurity responsibilities and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of experience supporting information assurance, cybersecurity, or ISSO responsibilities within federal or classified environments.
- Knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53, security control implementation, and compliance processes.
- Experience maintaining security documentation, accreditation packages, and compliance artifacts.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability management, security monitoring, and risk mitigation practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, DoD, or other federal national security programs.
- Familiarity with classified network environments and security operations.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
Compensation:
- Pay range: $160,000 - $170,000 (Based on years of relevant experience)
