Title: Electronic Technician 2
Locations: Vandenberg AFB, CA 93437
Duration: 6+ Months contract with possible extension
Rate Range: $60 - $70/Hour on W2 (Without medical benefits & no PTO meaning no federal/national holidays as well)
Job Description:
The Electronic Technician 2 to support our Integration and Test (I&T) department. As a member of the I&T department you'll get to perform testing and troubleshooting on interceptor and space launch vehicles. This position will serve on-site at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.
Responsibilities
Under close supervision, performs routine technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and Electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems. Guidance is readily available from superiors. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks. Performs routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications. Diagnoses and isolates malfunctions down to component level. Conducts defined engineering tests and collects data as assigned. Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus. Normally assigned in area such as development, engineering, test equipment design, or the like. Excludes those assigned to production test activities.
Basic Qualifications for Electronic Technician 2
1. **Education / Experience**
- High school diploma or GED **and**
- 2+ years of experience in electronics, avionics, or related field
**or**
- Completion of a formal electronics training program (e.g., technical school, military electronics training)
**or**
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field
2. **Technical Skills**
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electronic schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Technical drawings and work instructions
- Experience using electronic test equipment, such as:
- Digital multimeters (DMM)
- Oscilloscopes
- Power supplies
- Signal generators
- Basic soldering and rework skills (through-hole and/or surface mount)
- Familiarity with PCB assemblies, harnesses, and electronic components
3. **Work Experience**
- Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, or repairing electronic systems or subassemblies
- Experience in a production, lab, depot, or field service environment
4. **Computer Skills**
- Ability to use basic computer tools:
- Email and office applications
- Data entry into test systems or databases
- Ability to follow and complete electronic travelers or work instructions
5. **Soft Skills**
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
6. **Physical / Work Requirements**
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift moderate weights (often around 25-35 lbs)
- Ability to use hand tools and small power tools
Preferred Qualifications for Electronic Technician 2
Willingness to work overtime, shifts, or weekends as required by production schedules
Ability to obtain security clearance (clean background) if the job is extended or converted
