Job Description
The Intelligence Systems Division location in Goleta, CA is seeking an Avionics Technician 2 to join our team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs manufacturing operations associated with RF circuit testing, tuning, and assembly.
Utilizes common hand tools and occasional soldering to assemble hardware.
Utilizes measurement tools such as calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators during hardware fabrication.
Transmission and reflection arch measurements using a VNA (vector network analyzer)
In process measurements in support of low-rate manufacturing operations·
Antenna pattern and gain measurements within the Anechoic Chamber·
Antenna and RF network VSWR measurements
Report data and interface with other employees and departments
Reading and understanding manufacturing drawings/schematics and shop planning
Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and in a team environment alike. You have a strong aptitude and desire to learn the practical application of the RF test environment and the theory behind the work you do. You identify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence. Travel for this position is minimal, less than 10%.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:
High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of related avionics experience in an aerospace environment
US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance·
Ability to read, write and work to instructions written in English.
Ability read and follow directions on engineering drawings
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on demanding manufacturing schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
J-STD-001 Soldering Certificate
Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
Experience with Matlab
Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
Ability to multitask, prioritize
Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues
This position is intended to be contracted to hire. While this is our intent, this is not a promise to hire by Northrop Grumman. This contract position aligns with our full-time role of an avionics technician level 2.
