Position Title: Quality Assurance Technician/QC Inspector
Location: Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center
(MARMC), Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA
Security Clearance: Secret
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review contract work specifications to ensure quality requirements are specified.
- Develop and execute product and process surveillance/inspection/audit plans, record results, and draft formal feedback to contractor's quality organizations. Maintain a database of results.
- Develop and maintain matrices, graphs, metrics, and written reports using common computer software such as Microsoft Suite and U.S. Navy proprietary software programs.
- Ability to receive, store and transfer classified Quality Assurance Technician require the ability to obtain access to Restricted Data (RD) and NNPI spaces and system information.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with courses in quality engineering, systems engineering, or statistical A degree can be substituted with five (5) years' practical experience in quality engineering, systems engineering, or statistical application.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing work specification review in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance 4E specification and NAVSEA Standard Items.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in U.S. Navy contract clauses, ship specifications, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Society for Quality (ASQ) and ISO 9001 Quality System requirements, NAVSEA Standard Items, military specifications, industrial standards, contract drawings, shipbuilding practices and associated industrial techniques.

Physical requirements for efficient navigation aboard US Navy ships
- Contractors under the Production Department (C900) must possess the physical stamina to walk continuously for extended periods of time without experiencing significant fatigue. This includes traversing across inclined or uneven surfaces, through/into crowded/confined areas/spaces, up and down ladders/stairs, and in areas of varying environmental qualities.
- Contractors under the Production Department (C900) must possess adequate upper and lower-body strength necessary to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps. The contractor should possess the physical strength, agility, endurance, and mental constitution required to work aloft (as required). This may require the contractor perform work over the side of a ship's hull, on the mast, or in areas on the superstructure and at a height that requires the use of a safety harness. This upper and lower body strength and endurance should also be sufficient for the contractor to hand-carry necessary tools, parts, materials, and equipment through narrow passageways, up and down ladders, and into/out of confined spaces.
