Role Overview:
BDR Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to support the design, administration, security, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database environments supporting critical federal government systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise administering SQL database platforms while ensuring high availability, security, disaster recovery readiness, and optimal system performance.
This role will work closely with software developers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and project stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with business and application requirements.

The compensation range for this position is $80,000- $110,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to location, skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Role Overview:
BDR Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to support the design, administration, security, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database environments supporting critical federal government systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise administering SQL database platforms while ensuring high availability, security, disaster recovery readiness, and optimal system performance.
This role will work closely with software developers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and project stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with business and application requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade enterprise Database Management Systems (DBMS).
- Design, create, and maintain databases, schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Perform database performance tuning, optimization, indexing, and query analysis.
- Monitor database health, performance metrics, and system availability.
- Implement database security controls, user permissions, encryption, and access management.
- Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with organizational security standards.
- Develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure high availability and business continuity through replication, failover, and recovery planning.
- Configure database monitoring tools, alerts, notifications, and automated maintenance jobs.
- Monitor database storage utilization and proactively plan capacity growth.
- Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with software development teams to ensure applications follow database best practices.
- Support database migrations, application releases, and production deployments.
- Document database configurations, operational procedures, and technical standards.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and production support as required.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.
- Minimum 7+ years of professional database administration experience.
- Experience administering enterprise relational database platforms such as:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle
- PostgreSQL
- Experience performing:
- Database performance tuning
- Query optimization
- Backup and recovery
- Disaster recovery planning
- Security administration
- Experience supporting production database environments.
- Strong understanding of:
- Database architecture
- Data integrity
- High Availability (HA)
- Replication technologies
- Database monitoring tools
- Experience troubleshooting complex production database issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced Agile environment.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Federal Government systems.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or cloud-hosted database platforms.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.
- Experience using Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting containerized environments.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as:
- PowerShell
- Python
- Bash
- T-SQL
- Experience with database automation.
Preferred Certifications
One or more of the following is preferred:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft SQL Server Certification
- Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional
- PostgreSQL Certification
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- Security+
- ITIL Foundation
