Job Description

MAT Program Specialist Requirements

1. The BCC MAT Program Specialist shall communicate with SCI MAT Program Specialist when reentrants OD in community and are returned to SCI for detox to determine eligibility and appropriateness for MAT.

2. The SCI MAT Program Specialist shall assist with MAT referrals in the community, including setting up and scheduling appointments for medication and treatment.

3. The BCC and SCI MAT Program Specialist shall ensure needs, benefits, and services are obtained in accordance with assigned individuals' treatment plans.

4. The BCC and SCI MAT Program Specialist shall track and update spreadsheet/database on everyone released from an SCI on a MAT.

5. The BCC and SCI MAT Program Specialist shall attend weekly Vivitrol Conference Call, and other meetings as needed.

6. MAT Program Specialists shall document all contacts in appropriate systems (Captor, Sapphire etc.).

7. MAT Program Specialists shall attend all required trainings.

8. MAT Program Specialists shall meet with reentrants with positive urine drug screens to assess and refer to treatment.

9. MAT Program Specialists shall complete the GPRA as required (Initial, 6 months, discharge).

10. MAT Program Specialists shall meet with Reentrants in the SCI, BCC, Parole Offices, and/or Treatment providers as necessary.

11. MAT Program Specialists shall communicate all treatment planning to Center Staff, SCI Staff, and/or Parole staff.

12. MAT Program Specialists shall subscribe to the MAT/AOD Treatment framework and policies and procedures of the DOC.

13. MAT Program Specialists shall implement and provide social work, counseling, and case management services to individuals to enhance their social functioning and to help them attain a more satisfactory social, economic, or physical adjustment.

14. MAT Program Specialists shall perform in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures under the general supervision of an administrative supervisor.

15. MAT Program Specialists shall assess offenders' psychosocial strengths, weaknesses, and social work service's needs, and eligibility for services.

16. MAT Program Specialists shall counsel individuals utilizing various treatment modalities.

17. MAT Program Specialists shall discuss assigned individuals' psychosocial assessments and family history in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.

18. A Bachelor's in Social Work or Human Service field required.

19. MAT Program Specialists shall present with the following skills:

a. Knowledge of professional social work principles, practices, and methods.
b. Knowledge of professional casework principles, practices, and methods.
c. Knowledge of individual and group behavior.
d. Knowledge of counseling techniques and interventions used to recognize or improve psychosocial, economic, and physiological situations of individuals and families.
e. Knowledge of commonly occurring physical and mental illnesses and their social, economic, and psychological implications.
f. Knowledge of social, economic, health, habilitative, and rehabilitative problems, treatment methods, and resources.
g. Knowledge of the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as state confidentiality laws as applied to Social Work practice.
h. Ability to read and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to SoCal work services and programs.
i. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
j. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
k. Ability to communicate effectively in writing
l. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
