We are seeking an Advanced Engineering Technician to support the development, fabrication, testing, and modification of electro-mechanical systems, prototype hardware, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment for advanced defense programs. This role requires an active Top Secret security clearance, hands-on experience with fabrication tools, engineering drawings, prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement in a laboratory or engineering environment.

Advanced Engineering Technician
Electro-Mechanical Systems & Prototype Development

We are seeking an Advanced Engineering Technician to support the development, fabrication, testing, and modification of electro-mechanical systems, prototype hardware, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment for advanced defense programs. This role requires an active Top Secret security clearance, hands-on experience with fabrication tools, engineering drawings, prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement in a laboratory or engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support engineering activities including the design, fabrication, assembly, modification, checkout, and testing of prototype electro-mechanical systems and specialized test equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to support development activities.
- Construct, modify, troubleshoot, calibrate, debug, test, and adjust complex tools, equipment, fixtures, and engineering systems.
- Perform statistically based experiments, analyze results, and document findings to establish and improve manufacturing or engineering process parameters.
- Develop, implement, and document process improvements and technical solutions that enhance product quality, efficiency, and performance.
- Design, fabricate, and assemble custom tooling, fixtures, and hardware to support prototype development and unique engineering applications.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret technical data to identify root causes, evaluate performance, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations Support, and cross-functional teams to support prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Active Department of Defense Top Secret Security Clearance required at time of hire.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering technician, prototype fabrication, laboratory, manufacturing, or test engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience using fabrication equipment, machine shop tools, and precision measurement instruments.
- Ability to fabricate, assemble, modify, troubleshoot, and test complex electro-mechanical hardware and prototype systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of engineering principles, technical theory, laboratory processes, and manufacturing support activities.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and documenting technical and statistical data for engineering process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting prototype development within aerospace, defense, military, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Experience designing and fabricating custom tooling and fixtures.
- Familiarity with laser systems, optical devices, or light transmission technologies.
- Experience identifying opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tools for process improvement and engineering innovation.
