Job Description

Duties

  • You will monitor, verify, and coordinate information that ensures the timely loading/off-loading of cargo, mail, and passengers.
  • You will serve as an Information Controller and/or Ramp Coordinator within the Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC), a 24-hour per day, 7 day per week, 365 days per year operation.
  • You will receive and disseminate information from inside and outside the unit.
  • You will deliver and receive cargo and passenger manifest data from aircraft and brief aircrews regarding characteristics of cargo and number of passengers.
  • You will serve as the eyes and ears of the Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC) on the aircraft and aircraft parking ramp.
  • You will monitor all ground handling operations and inform the Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC) and work centers regarding the status of operations.
  • You will create aircraft ground handling records for every aircraft arrival and departure.
  • You will enter, compile, and maintain cargo and passenger movement data in electronic databases.
  • You will anticipate, confirm, and arrange all ground handling services to include parking, towing, pushback, power, fuel, etc.
  • You will create shift logs to record information concerning operational problem areas such as aircraft delays, safety issues, cargo loading/off-loading problems, and passenger/aircrew complaints.
  • You will provide professional customer service using all available modes of communication and will ensure a continuous flow of information and technical data.
  • You will contact representatives from other base functions, departments, agencies, and government contractors to coordinate airlift support requirements.
  • You will coordinate airfield traffic activities.
  • You will brief aircrews regarding cargo load characteristics, special category cargo, and other information.
  • You will complete airfield flightline and vehicle operations training and remain current on all airfield flightline procedures.
  • You will perform other duties at the direction and discretion of management.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • May be required to receive FDA approved vaccinations as an occupational health precaution due to potential exposure to bio-medical hazards.
  • Must be able to meet and pass established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinating operational activities for passenger and cargo loading/offloading at an aircraft terminal or airport; 2) Creating aircraft ground handling, cargo, and passenger records in electronic databases for aircraft arrivals/departures; 3) Communicating with border clearance agencies, support agencies, commercial airlines, air terminal personnel, flight managers, aircrews, etc.; 4) Verifying aircraft configurations, fuel loads, and cargo manifests; 5) Operating motorized vehicles on active airfields/flightlines.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
