Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to support secure enterprise infrastructure, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and technical risk mitigation initiatives for mission-critical environments. This position plays a key role in designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing enterprise network architectures while supporting technical risk assessments across IT systems, cloud technologies, mobile platforms, and virtualized environments.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing secure networking components, firewall technologies, VPN connectivity, endpoint security, network segmentation, and VDI infrastructure.
This role also supports systems engineering efforts involving VMware Horizon, Cisco HyperFlex, virtualization technologies, automation, and Zero Trust architecture while ensuring enterprise systems remain secure, resilient, and highly available.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, administer, and optimize secure enterprise network infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations.
• Manage the security and performance of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), including networking components, firewall policies, VPN connectivity, network segmentation, and endpoint policy enforcement.
• Administer and optimize enterprise networking technologies, including Palo Alto PA-3430 firewalls, Cisco Firepower 2130 appliances, and Cisco Nexus switching platforms.
• Configure and maintain secure remote access solutions utilizing OpenVPN, IPsec VPNs, and related technologies.
• Design and implement network segmentation strategies using VLANs, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and Zero Trust security principles.
• Manage endpoint provisioning, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management using ManageEngine and enterprise endpoint management tools.
• Administer and secure Windows 11, Linux (CentOS and Ubuntu), and Android emulation environments, including BlueStacks.
• Implement and manage Active Directory-integrated access controls, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), authentication services, and endpoint security policies.
• Develop automation scripts and workflows to streamline policy enforcement, system administration, and infrastructure management.
• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure utilizing VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Cisco HyperFlex technologies.
• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance VDI solutions supporting enterprise operations.
• Design, optimize, and maintain Windows and Linux golden images for virtual desktop deployments.
• Implement GPU virtualization technologies to enhance Android emulation and virtual desktop performance.
• Develop automated deployment, provisioning, and update workflows for enterprise desktop environments.
• Perform technical risk assessments and provide guidance on network security, cloud technologies, communication protocols, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Support software development and web-based infrastructure initiatives by evaluating technical requirements and maintaining supporting systems.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, infrastructure, and VDI teams to improve enterprise security posture and operational efficiency.
• Participate in compliance activities, security assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen network and endpoint security.
Mandatory Skills
• Demonstrated hands-on experience administering enterprise firewall technologies.
• Experience implementing and managing Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
• Experience administering enterprise access control technologies and identity-based security.
• Experience configuring and supporting secure VPN tunneling technologies.
• Experience securing endpoint devices and supporting mobile emulation environments.
• Experience administering and securing Android emulation platforms such as BlueStacks.
• Experience with: VMware Horizon, VMware vSphere, ESXi, and VMware vCenter
• Hands-on experience supporting hyperconverged infrastructure, particularly Cisco HyperFlex.
• Experience administering Windows Server environments, including: Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), DNS, and DHCP
• Experience administering Linux operating systems including CentOS and Ubuntu.
• Experience with Teradici technology and PCoIP protocol optimization.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, virtualization, endpoint security, and infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with scripting or automation technologies supporting infrastructure management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities.

Education
