Job Description

Koniag Operations Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Certified HVAC Technician with a TS/SCI security clearance to support KOS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

Koniag Operating Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team in Washington, DC, supporting facilities operations for our government customer. The ideal candidate is a skilled and dependable professional with a strong background in building systems maintenance and repair, capable of working independently and as part of a team to ensure a safe, functional, and efficient facility environment.

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all building systems, equipment, and machinery in support of our government customer. This role includes performing routine inspections, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and promptly addressing facility-related issues as they arise. The Maintenance Technician will apply a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail to maintain a safe, functional, and compliant facility environment that meets the operational needs of the customer.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections on building systems, equipment, and machinery, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, to identify deficiencies and ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions and failures across a variety of building systems and equipment, implementing effective and timely corrective actions to minimize disruption to facility operations.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and operational impact.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks including but not limited to carpentry, painting, patching, hardware replacement, and general facility upkeep.
  • Assist in the installation, replacement, and upgrade of building systems components and equipment as directed.
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, including performing filter changes, coil cleaning, belt inspections, and other routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency.
  • Inspect and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, identifying and resolving leaks, clogs, and other issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance tasks, including inspecting wiring, replacing fixtures, resetting breakers, and troubleshooting electrical issues within the scope of applicable codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with facility documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Lead HVAC Mechanic, Project Manager, and building managers to schedule and execute maintenance work with minimal disruption to building occupants and operations.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance work areas, storage rooms, and equipment spaces.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment, and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
  • Support facility inspections and audits by preparing systems and equipment for review and addressing identified deficiencies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and hazardous material handling requirements.


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
  • EPA 608 Certification required.
  • Must possess current training certifications and annual continuing education certificates in maintenance-related fields.


Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Working knowledge of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, with the ability to perform maintenance and repairs across multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions and equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • EPA 608 Certification with demonstrated knowledge of proper refrigerant handling, recovery, and disposal practices.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, equipment schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential issues during routine inspections before they escalate into larger problems.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work orders and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate with supervisors, building managers, and facility personnel.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including strict adherence to OSHA standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and proper PPE usage.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and work order documentation.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights as required.


Clearance Requirement:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.


Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Facilities Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or equivalent HVAC-related credential.
  • Experience working in a federal government facilities management or operations and maintenance environment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 General Industry certification.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management control systems.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability best practices as they relate to building systems and federal facilities operations.
  • Experience supporting facilities operations under government service contracts or Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicles.
