Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Ocean Engineer for a full-time entry-level position supporting several impactful projects across the company.
Successful candidates will have a BS degree in ocean engineering or a related field and will focus on building foundational skills and proficiency within their domain.
They will be responsible for supporting project teams with a variety of engineering tasks from design and development to assembly, maintenance and testing of complex maritime systems.

Job Functions and Responsibilities
• Support the entire arc of marine system development, starting with conceptualization and design, then to production planning, procurement, fabrication, component level testing and finally to system integration, system testing and sustainment.
• Traveling in support of testing, approximately 5-15% of the year
• Design and fabrication of oceanographic moorings
• Design, fabrication and testing of subsea wet cables
• Maintenance and operation of oceanographic instrumentation and unmanned platforms
• Writing procedures in support of fabrication and testing
• Implementing lessons learned from previous projects
• Integration and optimization of test gear and assets going to sea
• Preparing for and executing pier-side and at-sea testing
Required Skills and Attributes
• B.S. degree in Ocean Engineering or a related domain
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with the ability to independently solve moderately complex problems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Ability to use basic hand tools and electrical test and measurement equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication to accurately document and report findings to colleagues, customers, vendors, etc.
• Writing procedures in support of integration, production and testing
• Experience with basic data plotting and analysis using Python, MATLAB or equivalent
• Organized and detail oriented
• Ability to grasp, organize, and communicate fundamental electrical and mechanical concepts, and collaborate successfully with multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred Skills and Attributes
• Experience with Altium, ORCAD or similar electronic schematic capture/simulation tools
• Experience with SolidWorks, CAD or other solid modeling tool
• Basic proficiency interfacing with Linux based systems
• Familiarity with subsea wet cable design and construction
• Experience at sea and familiarity with offshore rigging
• Experience with mechanical production and sustainment of maritime systems
• Familiarity with localization methods including beamforming
• Experience with acoustic propagation models and tools
• Experience or familiarity with electronics assembly, wiring, crimping, and soldering
• Proficiency with electronic laboratory test equipment including digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, function generator, digital voltage and current measurement probes.
• Experience working in an R&D environment and working in small multidisciplinary teams
