Key responsibilities
Area Typical duties
Technical leadership • Define and prioritize SLO research topics (materials, geometry, coatings, active signature management).
• Lead cross-functional IPTs to integrate low-observable solutions into air-vehicle designs, test plans, and production processes.
Modeling & analysis • Develop high-fidelity signature-prediction models (RCS, IR, visual) and validate against flight-test data.
• Use computational electromagnetics (CEM) tools and RCS budgeting to assess design trade-offs.
Materials & processes • Guide selection and qualification of LO-compatible structural materials, coatings, and treatments.
• Oversee laboratory and range testing of signature-impact of repairs, modifications, and manufacturing processes.
Test & evaluation • Plan and execute ground- and flight-test campaigns (RCS, IR, NVIS, etc.) for SLO concepts.
• Analyze test data, produce reports, and drive design refinements.
Supportability & sustainment • Establish procedures for SLO maintenance, field diagnostics, and repair.
• Maintain the LO Health Assessment (LOHAS) database and provide guidance on signature impacts of damage/repair.
