Description:The Manufacturing Engineer for SWFLANT Cable Shop will optimize manufacturing processes for cable, wire harness, and cable assembly production. Acting as the primary technical liaison between Avionics Design Engineering and Production. You will ensure efficient, cost effective, and high quality manufacturing of electrical cable systems supporting the FBM Program
Key Responsibilities:
- Process & Layout Development
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions, process specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) from engineering drawings and schematics.
- Design and implement safe, efficient production layouts and assembly workflows for cable and harness builds.
- Specify, source, qualify, and maintain specialized tooling (e.g., automated cutters, crimpers, heat shrink equipment, test fixtures).
- Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide hands on technical support on the shop floor, troubleshooting wiring, component installation, crimping, soldering, and testing issues.
- Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCA) investigations for recurring defects and non conformances.
- Collaborate with Quality, Test, and Supply Chain teams to define inspection criteria and test requirements, integrating them into the production plan.
- Manage and update all manufacturing documentation in line with design changes and configuration control.
- Develop and deliver training for fabricators and production staff on new or revised assembly processes.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of production processes, equipment, and shop floor operations.
• Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with corrective action and production support.
• Experience with process/product optimization and efficiency.
• Experience with SAP and Qnote processing.
• Knowledge of FBM manufacturing practices and requirements.
• FBM Cable Harness Manufacturing or general FBM Electronics manufacturing experience.
• You will need to be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance to support this government contract. No clearance is required to apply. An interim Secret clearance is required prior to start
Desired Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, related field or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering drawings, process specifications, and manufacturing planning.
• Demonstrated ability to drive issues to closure.
• Experience with tooling and tool design concepts.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
• Knowledge of IPC/ANSI wiring standards and aerospace specification (e.g., MIL STD 1472)
• In depth knowledge of cable/connector standards, crimping, soldering, and wire preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with high voltage or specialty cables (e.g., fiber optic, shielded, aerospace grade).
• Proficiency with CAD/PDMS, MS Office, and preferably ERP/MRP systems (e.g., MES, SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
• Excellent Organizational skills and Project Management.

These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
