Description:Role Overview
As an Experimental CNC Machinist, you will manufacture precision components that support advanced space systems. You'll set up and operate CNC equipment, inspect finished parts, troubleshoot machining challenges, and work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to improve manufacturing processes. Your work directly supports the performance and reliability of next-generation space technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers.
• Machine, fabricate, and assemble parts to engineering drawings and operation sheet specifications.
• Interpret CAD models, blueprints, sketches, and technical documentation.
• Perform drilling, milling, boring, tapping, and other precision machining operations.
• Verify NC programs during machine setup and production.
• Select tooling, establish machine zero, and complete setup adjustments.
• Perform secondary operations such as deburring and straightening.
• Inspect in-process and completed parts using precision measurement equipment.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance and maintain machine coolant levels.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, material, and setup issues.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve tooling, fixturing, and machining processes.
• Support quality control activities and communicate production progress during shift operations.
Work Environment
You'll work in a precision machining and development laboratory where quality, accuracy, and safety are essential. The role involves close collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers in a production-focused environment. Overtime, alternate shifts, and weekend work may be required based on production schedules.
This position is based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, within Lockheed Martin Space Production Operations.

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered, candidates must meet all requirements listed:
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machining centers to produce precision components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, blueprints, and operation sheets.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and depth gauges.
• Working knowledge of CNC machining processes, including G and M code, tooling selection, machine setup, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Nice-to-have skills that strengthen candidacy but are not required:
• Experience working in an experimental or prototype manufacturing environment.
• Experience collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers to improve machining processes.
• Familiarity with statistical process control or other manufacturing quality practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision components.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
