Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical):
Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Education and Experience: Possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level). Professional Nursing Experience is defined as: comprehensive nursing care in a clinical setting, coordinating patient care and assisting provider with procedures.
OR
Education: Successful completion of two and a half years of progressively higher level graduate education leading towards a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet one of the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

- Perform all assigned duties in a timely manner and establishes proper priorities of care of the clinic and related duties.
- Meet deadlines for assigned projects.
- Serve as a front-line customer service representative, attending meetings of the clinic management team to discuss unit operations and identify continuous improvement opportunities in patient care and staff development.
- Work well with other clinic members, supervisors, patient educators, and administrative personnel to define and work toward common goals.
- Ensure clinic personnel are aware of their personal role in the event of a fire/disaster and Keep up to date on departmental fire, disaster, and recall procedures.
- Direct emergency interventions for patients, hospital personnel, and visitors when required.
- Assist the Senior Nurse Officer with updating and revising the provision of patient care.
- Demonstrate proficiency of Information Technology programs, i.e., Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
- Support and promote strict adherence to infection control, isolation, and safety policies and procedures as outlined in the department manuals.
- Work with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing patient care management for active-duty and their family members, retirees and their family members aged from newborn to geriatric.
- Review established treatment programs for clinical patients to determine effectiveness in meeting established care and treatment goals.
- Provide direct Nursing Protocol Visits under established guidelines in consultation with Primary Care Supervising Provider.
- Monitor and facilitate patient flow and provider coverage throughout clinical spaces

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede Basic Life Support completion.
- Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
