The SharePoint Online Migration Specialist is tasked with leading the planning, execution, and support of migrations from legacy SharePoint environments into modern SharePoint Online. This role emphasizes seamless transitions of content, workflows, permissions, and solutions while utilizing modern SharePoint Online capabilities and the Power Platform to modernize and enhance business processes.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute migrations from SharePoint Subscription Edition and other legacy SharePoint environments into SharePoint Online using enterprise migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Migration Manager, PowerShell automation).
- Diagnose and resolve migration issues, including throttling, permissions inconsistencies, legacy workflow dependencies, unsupported customizations, and content anomalies.
- Conduct pre‑migration assessments and readiness activities, including content inventory, site and workflow analysis, dependency mapping, and risk identification.
- Produce migration deliverables such as inventory reports, mapping documents, content normalization and remediation plans, cutover plans, and post‑migration validation checklists.
- Coordinate and execute test migrations, pilot migrations, and final cutovers while minimizing business disruption.
- Analyze legacy SharePoint customizations, workflows, and solutions to identify modern equivalents and improvement opportunities in SharePoint Online.
- Convert legacy workflows and forms (e.g., SharePoint Designer workflows, InfoPath forms, classic pages, sandbox solutions) into modern solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps, and/or SharePoint Framework (SPFx) as appropriate.
- Assist business and IT stakeholders in determining the "best fit" replacement patterns for legacy solutions, balancing functionality, maintainability, governance, and cost.
- Collaborate with business owners to translate legacy processes into sustainable, cloud‑ready solutions that leverage modern SharePoint features (e.g., modern pages, lists, libraries, hub sites, Teams integration).
- Design, build, and enhance Power Apps applications connected to SharePoint lists, libraries, and other data sources (e.g., Dataverse, SQL, external APIs).
- Develop Power Automate flows to replace legacy SharePoint Designer workflows, automate routine business processes, and integrate SharePoint with other Microsoft 365 and third‑party services.
- Implement and follow governance-aligned best practices for Power Platform deployments, including environment strategy, solution layering, ALM, and version control.
- Support configuration and use of on‑premises data gateways for secure connectivity to on‑premises data sources (preferred experience).
- Advise business units and site owners on content clean‑up, lifecycle management, restructuring, and metadata enrichment to improve usability, searchability, and compliance.
- Configure and optimize modern SharePoint Online sites, including team sites, communication sites, and hub sites, ensuring appropriate information architecture and navigation.
- Define and configure site security and permissions models aligned with least-privilege principles and organizational governance standards.
- Partner with site owners and content owners to ensure alignment with governance policies, branding standards, regulatory and compliance requirements, and user experience best practices.
- Develop and maintain custom PowerShell scripts (e.g., PnP.PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, CSOM) to automate migration tasks, reporting, content updates, provisioning, and configuration.
- Troubleshoot issues related to PowerShell scripts, APIs, and automation during migration and modernization projects.
- Maintain script repositories, documentation, and reusable automation modules to support repeatable, scalable migration and administration activities.
- Execute and manage migration automation solutions to support bulk site, content, and permissions changes.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather requirements, define migration and modernization strategies, and provide regular status updates.
- Contribute to and/or lead working sessions, discovery workshops, and design reviews.
- Deliver post‑migration support, including issue remediation, user training, knowledge transfer, and hypercare activities following cutover.
- Create and maintain documentation such as migration runbooks, solution designs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and governance guidance.
- Support adoption and change management efforts by providing input to communications, training materials, and user guides.

Qualifications
Qualifications - Here's What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in SharePoint administration, development, and/or migration, including substantial hands‑on experience with SharePoint Online and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- SharePoint Migration Experience:
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience migrating SharePoint environments (e.g., SharePoint 2013/2016/2019/Subscription Edition) to SharePoint Online using tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix/Quest, and/or native Microsoft migration tooling (e.g., Migration Manager, SPMT).
- SharePoint Online Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, site collections, hubs, permissions models, lists and libraries, content types, modern pages, and web parts.
- Power Platform:
- Experience designing and building solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate, including form design, automation logic, error handling, and integrations with SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 services.
- Scripting & Automation:
- Proficiency executing and developing custom PowerShell scripts for SharePoint administration, migration, and automation (PnP.PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, CSOM, and related modules).
- Modernization of Legacy Solutions:
- Experience converting classic SharePoint Designer workflows and/or InfoPath forms into modern, supported solutions (Power Automate, Power Apps, SPFx, or third‑party solutions).
- Microsoft 365 Ecosystem:
- Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and the broader Power Platform, with an emphasis on governance, compliance, and security considerations.
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS‑700, MS‑600, PL‑100/200/400, SC‑300).
- Experience with SPFx, TypeScript, React, or other modern development frameworks.
- Background supporting federal, regulated, or secure enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with taxonomy, content types, and enterprise metadata strategies.
