The Salesforce Architect serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable Salesforce solutions that support the Department of Veterans Affairs' mission. This role combines solution architecture with hands-on development, configuration, integration, and technical leadership while partnering closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, developers, administrators, QA, DevSecOps, and business stakeholders. The Salesforce Architect is responsible for translating business requirements into practical technical solutions, ensuring platform scalability, security, accessibility, maintainability, and alignment with Salesforce best practices and federal compliance requirements. Working within Agile Scrum teams, this individual mentors developers, contributes to architecture decisions, participates in delivery activities, and continuously evaluates new Salesforce capabilities to improve business outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Design scalable Salesforce solutions that align with business objectives, enterprise standards, and platform best practices.

·        Translate business requirements into solution designs, technical specifications, and implementation approaches.

·        Configure and customize Salesforce using declarative capabilities including Flows, Validation Rules, Lightning App Builder, Dynamic Forms, Permission Sets, and other platform features.

·        Develop and maintain custom functionality using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, asynchronous processing, JavaScript, and other Salesforce technologies.

·        Design Salesforce data models, security architecture, sharing strategies, record access, and user experience.

·        Design, develop, and support integrations using Salesforce APIs, Platform Events, middleware platforms, and service-based integration patterns.

·        Collaborate with developers, administrators, QA, DevSecOps, UX designers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality Salesforce solutions.

·        Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, Sprint Planning, estimation, technical design discussions, release planning, and retrospectives.

·        Perform technical design reviews, code reviews, and architectural assessments to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards.

·        Troubleshoot complex production issues involving integration, data integrity, platform performance, security, and application functionality.

·        Identify technical risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and communicate impacts to project leadership.

·        Support CI/CD processes, deployments, environment management, and release activities.

·        Develop reusable architecture patterns, technical documentation, and implementation standards.

·        Mentor developers and administrators through coaching, code reviews, design guidance, and knowledge sharing.

·        Evaluate new Salesforce platform capabilities and recommend adoption where they improve business value, user experience, or operational efficiency.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·        5–10 years of Salesforce platform experience designing and delivering enterprise Salesforce solutions.

·        Strong hands-on experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, Flow, Lightning Experience, JavaScript, and Salesforce configuration.

·        Experience designing Salesforce solutions across Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Salesforce Platform.

·        Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture including data modeling, security model, sharing rules, governor limits, and platform capabilities.

·        Experience designing and supporting integrations using REST APIs, SOAP APIs, Platform Events, middleware, and external enterprise systems.

·        Experience participating as a technical lead or senior developer within Agile Scrum delivery teams.

·        Knowledge of Salesforce DevOps practices including Git, branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.

·        Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

·        Demonstrated ability to mentor technical team members while collaborating effectively across multiple disciplines.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

·        Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs or other Federal civilian agencies.

·        Familiarity with Federal security and compliance requirements including FedRAMP, NIST, Section 508, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.

·        Experience with MuleSoft, Data Cloud, Tableau, AgentForce, Einstein AI, or Microsoft Azure integrations.

·        Experience working within regulated healthcare or government environments.

·        Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and API management.

·        Experience contributing to architectural governance, technical standards, and platform modernization initiatives.

·        Commitment to continuous improvement, mentoring, innovation, and collaborative delivery.

CERTIFICATIONS:

·        Required Certifications: Salesforce Certified Administrator; Salesforce Platform App Builder; Salesforce Platform Developer I

·        Preferred Certifications: Salesforce Application Architect or Salesforce System Architect; Salesforce Data Architect; Salesforce Sharing and Visibility Architect; Salesforce Platform Developer II; Salesforce AI Associate; Salesforce AI Specialist

EDUCATION:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CLEARANCE:

·        Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

·        U.S. Citizenship or Greencard is required.
