The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for an Information Systems Security Manager, SYD 810 (NH-2210-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Are you a cybersecurity expert passionate about protecting critical national security systems that monitor our planet and beyond? The Space/Terrestrial Environmental Analysis and Resource Sustainment Branch is seeking a skilled Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to join our team in Colorado Springs. In this role, you will be a cybersecurity professional who is responsible for guiding several environmental monitoring systems through the federal security authorization process (RMF).
Beyond traditional ISSM duties, you will play a crucial role in tackling unique network engineering challenges. We need an innovative thinker to help us architect and secure non-traditional data transport solutions, such as commercial ISPs, VPNs, and commercial satellite communications (like Starshield), to successfully bridge remote locations to DoW networks like NIPR. Ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrates experience as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) or Information System Security Officer (ISSO).
- Has strong network engineering experience, with a strong understanding of network architecture, routing, and how data traverse complex networks.
- Experience designing, securing, and authorizing non-traditional data transport methods from remote locations (e.g., utilizing commercial ISPs, VPNs, or satellite communications like Starshield to connect to DoD networks such as NIPR).
- In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to achieve system authorizations.
- Proven experience using government cybersecurity compliance tools such as eMASS, XACTA, ACAS, STIGs and other DoW compliance tools.
- Ability to hold and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, including access to SIPRNet and JWICS.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of IT cybersecurity principles, concepts and methods.
2. Knowledge of the organization's policy and planning form policy and planning formulation process along with its missions, goals, and objectives to prepare IT policies and plans.
3. Knowledge of budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements.
4. Knowledge of systems architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
5. Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost of analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments.
6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.

- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top- Secret/CS security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This is a Drug Testing position, must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Consent to counterintelligence (CI) polygraphs and signature of non-disclosure agreements is a condition of employment.
- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment.
- Within 30-day of assuming position an annually thereafter, incumbent must file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report".
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
