Principal DevOps Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to support a high-profile intelligence program in Springfield, VA . The Principal DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building, automating, operating, and supporting secure AWS C2S cloud infrastructure powering next-generation geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) capabilities. This position will be onsite in Springfield, VA and requires an active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.

Responsibilities of the Principal DevOps Engineer include:

• Manage and maintain secure AWS C2S (GovCloud) infrastructure supporting mission-critical intelligence systems
• Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for scalable and repeatable cloud environments
• Administer Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, and VPN environments
• Collaborate with software development teams to build, test, and deploy cloud-native applications
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application, networking, and deployment issues across multiple environments
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security using AWS CloudWatch, Kibana, Elasticsearch, and related monitoring tools
• Support deployment and administration of microservices-based applications within AWS environments
• Integrate emerging technologies and support cloud modernization and migration initiatives
• Produce technical documentation, communicate project status, and escalate issues as needed
• Partner with cloud, infrastructure, security, and development teams to support enterprise DevOps initiatives

Qualifications of the Principal DevOps Engineer include:

• 15+ years of DevOps Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Administration experience
• Experience administering AWS GovCloud, C2S, or other secure AWS cloud environments
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar automation tools
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or similar technologies
• Strong Linux systems administration experience
• Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, and VPN technologies
• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, operating systems, cloud services, and application deployments
• Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, automation, and DevOps best practices
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph required
• Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted for education)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, and other serverless technologies
• Experience supporting Apache NiFi and Elasticsearch
• Experience supporting NGA, GEOINT, or Intelligence Community programs
• Experience deploying and supporting containerized or microservices architectures
• Strong Active Directory administration experience
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and modernization initiatives

Compensation for the Principal DevOps Engineer includes:

• Salary: $180,000 - $210,000
