An Average Day: As t he Enterprise Monitor Engineer you will ensure the performance, availability, and capacity of IT services, and help provide consistent coverage for the IT Operations Center (ITOC) 24x7x365. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust monitoring solutions to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our systems, services, organization's data, and networks. You will also support the IT Operations Control (ITOC) Manager by serving as a deputy during on‑call rotations, helping resolve critical incidents and communicating updates to Upper Leadership. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Responsibilities
An Average Day: As t he Enterprise Monitor Engineer you will ensure the performance, availability, and capacity of IT services, and help provide consistent coverage for the IT Operations Center (ITOC) 24x7x365. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust monitoring solutions to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our systems, services, organization's data, and networks. You will also support the IT Operations Control (ITOC) Manager by serving as a deputy during on‑call rotations, helping resolve critical incidents and communicating updates to Upper Leadership. Additionally, in this position you will:
- Develop and perform test strategies, maintain monitoring systems, manage system and network performance, and provide technical support when needed.
- Monitor system performance to ensure smooth and efficient operation utilizing observability platforms such as SolarWinds and Splunk and similar platforms.
- Analyze and identify potential performance issues in software and hardware systems and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize system performance.
- Ensure the reliability and stability of systems and networks by proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate monitoring process and enhance system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand monitoring requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide advice on system capacity planning and scalability, forecasting future needs based on current usage trends.
- Document monitoring process, configurations, and procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve monitoring solutions
Qualifications
- As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) .
- Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years' experience within the information technology industry
- 2-4 years' experience in enterprise monitoring within the energy sector or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of IT Service management and the impacts of outages to internal and external services.
- Strong working knowledge of SolarWinds, SPLUNK, or similar platforms to configure and customize monitoring processes.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages.
- Experience providing leadership support during critical incidents and on-call operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical teams, operations leadership, and executive stakeholders
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This is a day shift position with some overnight, weekends and holidays, Monday-Friday (7am to 4pm)
- Must be able to:
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Bend, stretch, squat, kneel, to move equipment, set up workstations (projectors, TV screens, computers, servers, routers, printers, tools, etc.).
- Must be able to present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access, such as a REAL ID compliant driver license, U.S. Passport, or other approved document from the GSA Required Identification List .
