In this role, you'll contribute to Ship Self Defense System legacy maintenance and operational readiness, working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.
About the role:
As an SSDS Senior Legacy Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical hands-on role supporting the operational readiness of U.S. Navy Ship Self Defense System legacy configurations at Wallops Island, Virginia. Day to day, you will assess system performance, troubleshoot equipment issues, perform corrective and preventive maintenance, monitor system operations, and help ensure SSDS legacy equipment remains ready to support mission requirements. This role is ideal for a seasoned technician who understands the importance of disciplined maintenance, accurate documentation, and reliable system performance in a mission-critical defense environment.

- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on SSDS legacy systems and associated equipment.
- Assess, diagnose, isolate, and resolve hardware, software, and system-level faults.
- Monitor and manage the operation of SSDS legacy configurations.
- Perform documented organizational-level maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
- Document maintenance actions, discrepancies, corrective actions, and system status.
- Support operational checks and testing following maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with government personnel, engineers, technicians, and operators to resolve system issues.
- Maintain compliance with applicable safety, security, quality, and configuration control procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on SSDS legacy systems and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience performing documented organizational-level maintenance.
- Experience monitoring and managing operation of SSDS legacy configurations.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for complex technical systems and equipment.
- Ability to follow technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and documented work instructions.
- Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, system status, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Experience working in Department of Defense or U.S. Navy technical environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with government, engineering, and technical teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience supporting U.S. Navy combat systems.
- Experience with SSDS Mk 1, SSDS Mk 2, or other SSDS legacy configurations.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance processes, technical documentation, and configuration control.
- Experience supporting operational test, system integration, modernization, or fleet readiness activities.
- Prior military experience supporting Navy combat systems or equivalent civilian experience.
- Experience mentoring junior technicians or serving as a senior technical resource.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field/discipline.
- Four (4) additional years of demonstrated experience may be substituted for a degree.
Citizenship and Clearance requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- No dual citizenship
- Active Secret clearance required
- Active Top Secret clearance preferred

- Under 10% travel expected.
- Occasional CONUS travel may be required for customer engagement, training, technical coordination, or mission support.
