Job Description

The Computer Operator III:
- Recommends improved service routines, production techniques and modifications or additions to equipment.
- Observes and controls the course of jobs being run on the computer system.
- Takes immediate action to correct any machine malfunction.
- Assists in the orientation of operators in a lower classification.
- Maintains an understanding of production practices and procedures and assists in the resolution of production problems and issues.
- Prepares and presents quantitative data regarding workflow processes and issues to management and supervisors.
- Maintains production efficiency by using sound judgments when problem solving, and through effective oral communication.
- Fulfills tasks of operators in a lower classification as needs arise.
- Acts in place of program manager when needs require.
- Maintains related logs and records.
- Performs clerical duties as assigned.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Skills & Behaviors:
- Thorough knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and MS Office software.
- Thorough knowledge of clerical and reporting skills.
- Excellent attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform accurately, assigned routine operations on various data processing equipment.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to listen effectively and express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work well both alone and in highly structured team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities with good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
Education, Training, & Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5+ years of personal computer experience. (required)
- Four years of experience in a business mailroom, print operations, and/or mail sorting experience. (required)
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or successful completion of related programs in data processing and computer operations. (preferred)
- Experience with using loading and maneuvering equipment safely and effectively. (preferred)
Qualifications:
- Candidates who hold an active public trust government clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Candidates who are willing to undergo a background investigation to receive a government clearance will be strongly considered.
- Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm daily. (Hours may vary based on workload and candidates must be flexible)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
- Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
