Koniag IT Systems, LLC (KITS), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company, is seeking a Computer Operator I to support KITS and our government customer in Baltimore, MD.

A Computer Operator I will be tasked with monitoring and controlling our operational systems. As a computer operator, you will be responsible for operating and troubleshoot mail sorting machines, other sorting equipment, and maintaining equipment inventories.
To ensure success as a computer operator, you should have a strong working knowledge of computer hardware and software systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to work quickly in high-pressure situations. Ultimately, a top-class computer operator can set up, maintain, and troubleshoot operational issues without impeding productivity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares equipment for operations by accessing software in computer.
- Uses computer terminals to enter commands, activate equipment controls, and adjust settings to produce quality deliverables daily.
- Ensures efficient production workflow by attentively following procedural instructions and performing duties immediately.
- Monitors and troubleshoots issues regarding production processes, deadlines, and data transmissions across a multiplatform environment.
- Responds to program error messages by finding and correcting problems.
- Maintains incident logs for all monitored systems.
- Assists with inventory control practices including identifying and locating the right products during the delivery process and daily workload; properly storing necessary inventory in designated areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Behaviors:
- Knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and MS Office software.
- Knowledge of clerical and reporting skills.
- Excellent attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform accurately, assigned routine operations on various data processing equipment.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to listen effectively and express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work well both alone and in highly structured team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities with good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
Education, Training, & Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of personal computer experience. (required)
- Some higher education experience or successful completion of related programs in data processing and computer operations. (preferred)
- Two years of experience in business mailroom, print operations, and/or mail sorting experience. (preferred)
- Experience with using loading and maneuvering equipment safely and effectively. (preferred)
Qualifications:
- Candidates who hold an active public trust government clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Candidates who are willing to undergo a background investigation to receive a government clearance will be strongly considered.
- Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm daily. (Hours may vary based on workload and candidates must be flexible)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
- Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
