Structural Engineer
Location: Naples, Italy (Travel throughout Italy and Bahrain as required)
Travel: International travel required; company-paid travel and lodging for authorized work assignments

Education & Experience
- U.S. Citizen required
- Valid driver's license required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional structural engineering experience supporting new construction and renovation projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (Structural) preferred
- Experience preparing code-compliant structural designs for commercial, industrial, or government facilities
- Working knowledge of DoD and NAVFAC design criteria, the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, and applicable structural engineering standards
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, Microsoft Office Suite, and engineering calculation tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Position Overview
Futron is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support NAVFAC EURAFCENT planning, design, and construction projects throughout Italy and Bahrain. The Structural Engineer will provide technical engineering support for military construction (MILCON), renovation, demolition, maintenance, and facilities development projects serving the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and other Department of Defense customers. This position will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and government stakeholders to develop safe, code-compliant structural designs that support mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional structural engineering support for the planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and modernization of military facilities.
- Perform structural analysis and design for new construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Design structural systems including reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, utility supports, and lateral force-resisting systems.
- Perform calculations for environmental loads, seismic loads, wind loads, blast loads, and other structural design requirements.
- Prepare and review structural drawings, calculations, specifications, engineering reports, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with architects, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project designs.
- Review contractor submittals, technical proposals, shop drawings, and construction modifications for structural compliance and constructability.
- Ensure compliance with DoD, NAVFAC, federal, and international building codes, standards, and engineering criteria.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and technical consultations with government and contractor personnel.
- Provide engineering recommendations related to structural systems, facility assessments, renovation projects, and infrastructure improvements.
- Prepare written technical reports, engineering analyses, presentations, and project documentation.
- Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and construction administration activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote compliance with safety policies, engineering best practices, and quality standards on all assigned projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (Structural).
- Experience supporting NAVFAC, U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, or other Department of Defense facilities programs.
- Experience designing military, industrial, waterfront, aviation, or mission-critical facilities.
- Knowledge of overseas building codes and construction practices.
- Experience supporting overseas or expeditionary construction projects.
